Customers of the cannabis brand STIIIZY sued after an intruder reached customer records through a point-of-sale vendor in October 2024. The company disclosed the breach on January 7, 2025. The consolidated case, In re: STIIIZY Inc. Data Breach Security Litigation, is in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, case 2:25-cv-00490.

STIIIZY agreed to a $2.95 million settlement without admitting wrongdoing. The administrator is accepting claims until September 10, 2026, from people who got a breach notice or believe their data was in the incident.

What the complaint says

The plaintiffs say STIIIZY did not keep adequate security around data flowing through its vendor. The exposed records may include names, addresses, dates of birth, government ID numbers, payment card details, and medical cannabis card information. STIIIZY denies the claims.

Status

Settled, with claims open. Two tiers exist: documented out-of-pocket losses up to $7,500, or a pro rata cash share with no paperwork. California class members get double the pro rata share. Two years of credit monitoring and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance come with either tier.

Who is in the class

  • You received a breach notification from STIIIZY about the October 2024 incident.
  • Or you believe your personal, health, financial or identity data was in the breach disclosed in January 2025.
  • California members' pro rata share is doubled.

Filing with the administrator

Go to stiiizydatabreachsettlement.com, pick File a Claim, and select a tier. Documented losses need receipts, bank statements or invoices showing unreimbursed fees, credit monitoring costs or identity theft expenses. The pro rata option needs nothing beyond the form. You can opt into the monitoring on the same form. Submit by September 10, 2026 and keep the confirmation.

The administrator checks each claim and pays after the court's process ends; the pro rata amount depends on how many people file. Filing is free. Payout lists the settlement free and does not touch any payment.
