Penn Medicine patients who used the myPennMedicine portal between January 23, 2021, and January 23, 2023, can file in a settlement over tracking pixels. The lawsuit accused the University of Pennsylvania Health System of running advertising and analytics code on the portal that sent patients' health information to outside companies without authorization.

Penn Medicine denies wrongdoing. It agreed to pay up to $9,250,000, and the administrator is accepting claims through September 16, 2026.

What patients accused Penn Medicine of

The complaint said the health system embedded third-party pixels on its patient portal, and that those pixels captured what logged-in patients did and transmitted it to advertisers and analytics providers. The plaintiffs argued that violated privacy laws protecting health information.

The settlement resolves those claims without any admission by Penn Medicine.

After September 16, 2026, the administrator checks each claim against Penn Medicine's records, and payments follow the court's final approval. Filing is free. A free app such as Payout can point you to this same claim site, and Payout never takes a share of what the administrator pays.
