Lemonade agreed to a $10.5 million settlement over an alleged data exposure on its online insurance quote platform. The lawsuit, pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York as case 1:25-cv-04106-JHR-KHP, says cybercriminals entered unauthorized information into the quote system between April 2023 and September 18, 2024, and that personal details, including driver's license numbers, may have been disclosed as a result.
Lemonade denies wrongdoing and disputes liability. The court has not decided the merits. The claims window closes at 11:59 p.m. Eastern on September 8, 2026.
What the plaintiffs allege
The complaint centers on how Lemonade's quote tool responded to bad input. According to the plaintiffs, outsiders were able to feed the system unauthorized information and get back real personal data, including driver's license numbers, over a period of roughly 17 months ending September 18, 2024.
Lemonade says it did nothing wrong. The settlement agreement resolves the dispute without a finding either way, and the $10.5 million fund pays the approved claims after court-approved fees and administration costs.

Claims are open now. Online submissions must be in by 11:59 p.m. ET on September 8, 2026, and mailed forms need a postmark by that date.
The claim form offers a proportional cash payment, reimbursement of up to $10,000 for documented losses, or both. A documented-loss request needs records such as bank statements, credit reports, or letters from tax authorities.

After September 8, 2026, the settlement administrator reviews each claim and the court still has to grant final approval before money is distributed. Filing is free with the administrator directly.
