Dutcher et al v. Google LLC d/b/a YouTube, case 20CV366905 in Santa Clara Superior Court, settled for $7.5 million. California residents who paid for at least one YouTube TV renewal between February 1, 2017 and October 29, 2021 can file a claim through August 30, 2026.
The plaintiffs alleged YouTube TV enrolled subscribers in auto-renewing plans without the clear disclosure and affirmative consent that California's Automatic Renewal Law requires. YouTube and Google denied that and settled.
What the Automatic Renewal Law requires
California's statute says a company must present renewal terms clearly before charging, get the customer's express agreement to those terms, and send an acknowledgment they can keep. The lawsuit said YouTube TV's sign-up flow fell short on each point during the class period.
The class is limited to people billed by YouTube itself. Subscriptions bought through the Apple App Store are outside the settlement, as are subscribers who canceled during a free trial or got a full refund.

How to file
The administrator's site is YouTubeTVSettlement.com. Choose Submit a Claim and log in with the LoginID and PIN from your settlement notice, or download the PDF form and mail it. The form asks for contact details and your YouTube TV account information.
Once submitted, the administrator matches your claim to YouTube's billing records for the class period. Payment goes out after the deadline passes and the claims are reconciled. Filing costs nothing on the administrator's site; Payout lists the case free too and takes no cut.
