Labaton Keller Sucharow LLP is investigating individual claims against Snap Inc. The allegation is that Snapchat's design contributed to addiction in children and teens and led to depression, anxiety, insomnia, eating disorders, low self-esteem, trouble in school, and exposure to cyberbullying, cyberstalking or sexual harassment.
The firm runs intake through its Lantern platform. Parents of children under 18, and adults who used Snapchat before turning 18, can sign up if use in the past ten years caused mental or physical harm. There is no settlement and no class action here; each claim is handled individually.
The claims
Labaton's theory is that Snap designed Snapchat in ways that encouraged compulsive use by young users and did not warn about the effects. The harms listed on the Lantern page range from sleep and mood disorders to educational interference and harassment. Snap has not agreed to any settlement, and the firm has not published a court or case number for these individual claims.
Status
Open investigation, marked limited time. Labaton can close intake when it has the clients it needs. Because the claims are individual, there is no class deadline and no administrator. Whether a claim goes to court or arbitration depends on the user agreement and the firm's judgment after review.

- A parent or guardian of a child under 18 who used Snapchat and suffered mental or physical harm.
- An adult who used Snapchat before turning 18 within the past ten years and suffered harm.

After you submit
The Lantern form asks about the user, the period of use and the harm. A Labaton attorney reviews it. If the firm takes the claim, it sends a separate representation agreement; until you sign one, you are not a client and no attorney-client relationship exists. Submitting does not guarantee that the firm accepts the claim or that anything is recovered.
